“Co-founder of” Red Lebanese “independent publishing house and music label, Mad Rey is both a graduate of the Beaux-Arts de Paris, signature of the house and techno label D.KO Records, and producer of hip- hop under the name “L Rey”.
He appears today as a singular profile and widely regarded in the artistic world.
“Quartier Sex” EP (whose name is inspired by the Parisian district of Pigalle) totals around 500k readings on streaming platforms and around 3k vinyls sold, and allowed Quentin Leroy to stand out on the electronic scene.
In order not to get locked into a defined genre, he proposed a live mixing House music, Footworks, Hip-Hop, Techno & Acid.
An hour of condensed and finely associated electronic music that literally swept through festivals and clubs around the world between 2015 and 2016.
In 2016 he released his first self-produced maxi via Red Lebanese entitled “18” in a purely ghetto house style very effective, the 300 copies will be sold in barely 6 months.
In 2018 he set up Studio X8 (music and production studio for the Red Lebanese label, based in Montreuil). The project will see the birth of more “hiphop” oriented collaborations with, among other things, the production of the first EP by the group Pira Pora (released on November 15, 2019), and two mixtapes by Brazilian rapper Adriano Bico.
He also released “Miracle Mike EP” on German label Money Sex Records, “L’Orage EP” on English label Rekids and “Brazil Melancholia” on Parisian label Mamie’s Records.
For his new opus entitled “Bon Souvenir” (to be released in February 2020 on D.Ko Records and Red Lebanese in co-release), Mad Rey has undertaken several collaborations with artists from his entourage (Pablo Jomaron (his long-time partner) for the artwork, Ben Dorado, Thami Nabil and Hedi Nabil) in order to accompany the project with a rich and dense visual: an animated manga co-written with Hedi Nabil and Thami Nabil will serve as the official clip of the piece ” Bon Souvenir ”and a series of 3D graphics produced by Ben Dorado will accompany the other tracks of the EP. The whole visual universe is centered around the Bosozoku (Tokyoite biker gangs of the 80’s and 90’s).
